issues are changing nationally, and those changes are
affecting the way researchers work. To help MSU
investigators respond to this need for greater security, I
have asked the ORCBS to work with university safety committees
to prepare a short tutorial on lab security. The following
pages identify ways to control access to labs, monitor
materials used in labs, and conduct emergency evacuations.
The tutorial also includes information on reporting
incidents and handling specific threats if they occur.
These security measures are
designed to protect everyone who works in our laboratories
and to prevent misuse of laboratory materials. Please read
this tutorial carefully and use the information to enhance
security in your lab. The safety of our faculty, staff, and
students is our individual and collective responsibility and
we must take it seriously. |
